We believe, teach, and confess
- that the Holy Scriptures, the Bible, is the inspired, inerrant Word of God (see: 1 Timothy 3.14-17, 2 Peter 1.16-21, St. John 20.30-31)
- in one God who revealed Himself as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost;
- that the three historical and ecumenical creeds of Christendom: Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian are faithful to the Scriptures;
- that on account of humankind’s fall into sin that all people are conceived and born sinful and are under the power of the devil until Christ claims them as His own in Holy Baptism;
- when the divinely inspired word of God accompanies ordinary water, saving-faith is created in the heart of the baptized;
- when the divinely inspired word of God accompanies ordinary bread and wine, an unfathomable miracle occurs by which the real and physical presence of Christ’s flesh and blood become present and the faithful baptized receive forgiveness of their sins, life, and salvation;
- that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and rose again for the salvation of all humankind;
Jesus will one day return to judge the living and the dead whose kingdom will have no end; - that we are saved solely by God’s grace received as a divine gift through faith in Jesus.
Sacrament of the Altar at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church (LCMS)
The Lord’s Supper is joyfully received here today. At the altar, our Lord Jesus Christ delivers His
true body and blood into our mouths. His gift of body and blood, given in, with, and under the
bread and wine, bestows tremendous benefits. His body and blood forgives our sins, strengthens
our faith, binds us to the Lord, and unites us with each other. In this is life and salvation.
All members of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod have publicly confessed this sacred gift and its
blessings, and so are encouraged to commune. Other guests wishing to join our confession and re-
ceive this Holy Sacrament are asked to meet with the pastor prior to communing for the first time.
Those wanting to come forward for a blessing are welcome to do so by crossing their arms over
their chests.
Holy Ghost Lutheran Church (LCMS) Mission Statement
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you..." (Matthew 28:19-20), is the will of our Lord Jesus Christ for all Christians everywhere. To carry out this Great Commission effectively in our community and the whole world we, Lutheran Christians living in and near Monroe County, Michigan, believe that it is Christ's command that Christians
- unite in worship (Hebrews 10:24-25),
- practice fellowship with one another (Acts 2:42, Matthew 28:18-20),
- witness to all people (Acts I:8),
- help each other grow in the Word (Ephesians 4:11-14),
- serve the needs of all people in Christian love (Mark 10:42-44, John 13:35, Galatians 6:10, Ephesians 4:7-16),
- administer the Office of the Keys as His Church (John 20:21-23, Matthew 18:15-20), and
- maintain decency and order (I Corinthians 14:40) in the Church.
Therefore, we accept and subscribe to the following Constitution and By-laws, in accordance with which all spiritual and material affairs of our congregation shall be governed.
